Mark your calendars for the biennial Focusing on the First Year Conference to take advantage of the opportunity to dialogue and strategize about academic and student development issues relating to first-year students. This conference will be held at Coffman Memorial Union on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. All University faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to attend.

Orientation & First-Year Programs is offering an application called Guidebook to facilitate an electronic handbook for the Focusing on the First Year Conference.  This application will provide you with a full conference schedule, select handouts and presentations, conference logistics, and the ability to create a personalized schedule.

  1. Choose which mobile device you would like to use during the conference. You are able to access the handbook from multiple devices, but personalized schedules cannot be read from multiple devices, as they are not connected.
  2. Access the App. Store on your device, and search for “Guidebook.” Download this free application.
  3. Open the application and click “Download Guides” at the bottom of the screen. Then click “Redeem Code” at the bottom of the screen and enter the code “UMN” to download the conference guide.
  4. Click the icon labeled “UMN First-Year Conference.” Inside the guide, there are multiple icons for you to explore.
