Congratulations!
Congratulations on completing your first year at the University of Minnesota! Making the transition to higher education is an important stage in your life. On behalf of the University community, we wish you continued success in your academic pursuits.
Your Health & Wellness
End of the semester stress
With the end of the semester around the corner, students are finishing end of semester projects, writing papers, and getting ready for finals. Visit the student mental health website to learn about the ins and outs of stress.
Change your energy and concentration with your diet!
Boynton Health Service offers individual and group nutritional services. If you are dragging your feet at the end of the semester meet with a nutritionist and learn how you can eat better so that you have more energy and better concentration. Nutritionists can also talk with you about other health goals or concerns you have related to diet. http://www.bhs.umn.edu/services/nutrition.htm#what.
Moving back home
For those students moving back home for the summer, the transition back home may be just as important as moving into your first residence hall. It is important to realize that while you have been away, both you and your family may have changed. In the past, some students have found it useful to discuss expectations and considerations with their parents/guardians before returning home. The University’s Office for Student Affairs offers a podcast to make the transition home a comfortable experience for the whole family.
Your Academics
Finals Week
The University’s last day of instruction is Friday, May 8th, 2009. Final Exams will be administered May 11-16. The university offers several resources to help students prepare, study and relax for their final week. University Counseling & Consulting Services offers services related to academic stress, as well as counseling for individual learning and academic skills.
Center for Writing
It is not too late to get help with your writing. If you have any final papers to turn in this semester, or if you have a final exam that is a paper, stop by the Center for Writing! Services at the center include face-to-face consultation and help in creating your writing revision strategies.
Your Finances
FAFSA
If you are currently enrolled for Fall semester but have not filled out your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) you can still do so. To fill out your FAFSA go to: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm.
If you have already filled out your FAFSA and received your financial aid package, swing by One Stop and have any questions answered by a One Stop counselor.
