Orientation

Orientation is a one day experience that will provide you the opportunity to meet students from your college of enrollment, current student leaders, faculty, and staff. You will leave Orientation with the information necessary to be successful at the University of Minnesota. At Orientation you will meet with an adviser and register for spring semester classes.

There is a lot of information to keep in mind when it comes to planning for Orientation. Please review the links on the left to explore what your Orientation experience will be like, as well as to answer any questions you may have.

Make sure you visit the links under "New Student Checklist " on the left and complete any tasks that must be taken care of before you come to Orientation. When it is finally time for you to come to Orientation, use the following packing checklist to make sure you don't forget anything important. Make sure you bring:

  • University Internet ID and memorized password
  • Your seven-digit student ID number (You will need to provide it during the orientation process)
  • Name of your health insurance company and policy number (You may purchase University insurance instead)
  • $6.00 per day for parking
  • Photo ID for U Card
  • Notebook and pen or pencil
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Appropriately warm attire; you will be walking between buildings to get to your different orientation activities
