Collaboration is one of the core values of OFYP. Building internal and external relationships strengthen the work we do with and for students. This page outlines the opportunities that exist for you to be involved with programs involving first-year students at a departmental level, as well as an individual level. We encourage you to check out these opportunities first hand and partner with us to ensure students have a successful transition to the U of M.
Staff and Faculty: Volunteer for Welcome Week 2016!
- Residence Hall Move-In (Aug. 29-30) - Greet students and parents, guard belongings, and help with traffic flow. Volunteers are not expected to carry luggage or boxes.
- Move-In Receptions for Families (Aug. 30) - Visit with parents and family members at the Fountain Terrace in Coffman. Talk with families moving their students in, answer any last minute questions, and help ease their anxieties about this transition. The Parent and Family Program is looking for volunteers across a variety of offices and departments, including those that have recently sent their own family members to college.
- New Student Convocation (Sept. 1) - This campus tradition kicks off the first morning of Welcome Week. We need greeters, direction providers, tassel distributors, and sign holders.
- Earth, U, and Barbecue (formerly the Class of 20XX Cookout) (Sept. 2) - We need recycling/compost assistance, direction providers, and greeters.
Registration closed Wednesday, August 17. If you have questions, contact our office.
