University of Minnesota Driven to Discover
ORIENTATION & FIRST-YEAR PROGRAMS (OFYP)

THANK YOU!

We have wrapped up a successful orientation cycle welcoming the students in the Class of 2020 and many new transfer students! Orientation & First-Year Programs would like to express our appreciation to all of you who made these new student programs a success.

This summer, we all worked tremendously hard to transition and welcome over 5,800 in the Class of 2020, and over 2,300 transfer students. We served over 5,600 parents/guests with 62% of freshman students bringing a parent/family member to parent orientation – the highest number ever! We implemented the ninth Welcome Week checking in over 5,600 students. Transfer Welcome Days served 800 students. Our student leadership was also outstanding this summer and many of you nominated, worked with, and supported these students as well. These programs could not take place without your collaboration, support, and cooperation!

We still have posters for the Class of 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2016. We can deliver posters to your office if you need a large quantity for a student event.

OFYP and the Office of Undergraduate Education would like to thank you for your dedication and commitment in welcoming new students and their families to the University community and for contributing to their successful transition. As students adjust to their first semester, many of you are still actively involved in helping these new students thrive. The success of all new students is an ongoing commitment and one that we know you are dedicated to achieving. Thank you for all that you do to ensure their success.

With warmest thanks,

The Orientation & First-Year Programs staff
