What is New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation is a required two-day program scheduled for international students on August 26-27 or August 31-September 1. Orientation is required of every new student coming to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

During Orientation, you will attend an immigration presentation, then be placed into a small group with an Orientation Leader who will lead you through your Day 1 activities. You will learn about campus resources, meet with your college of enrollment and prepare for course registration. On Day 2, you will register for your fall semester classes. For more information read through the International Student Orientation Newsletter.

Once you have selected an orientation date, encourage your parents to sign up for Parent Orientation! The registration process for parents is separate from the New Student Checklist. Research shows parent involvement contributes positively to student success.
