What is New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation is a required two-day overnight program scheduled sometime between June 9 and July 17. Orientation is required of every new student coming to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

During Orientation, you will be placed into a small group with an Orientation Leader who will lead you through your Day 1 activities. You will learn about campus resources, meet with your college of enrollment and prepare for course registration. All students will spend the night in Comstock Hall to experience a residence hall firsthand. On Day 2, you will register for your fall semester classes. For more information look for the Orientation Newsletter arriving in your mail soon!

Once you have selected an orientation date, encourage your parents to sign up for Parent Orientation! The registration process for parents is separate from the New Student Checklist. Research shows parent involvement contributes positively to student success.

Dates fill quickly, so don't delay! Be sure to check for conflicts like high school graduations, family vacations, sporting commitments, weddings, and summer jobs.
