What you can do now to prepare for New Student Orientation

Orientation is just around the corner and we wanted to let you know about a few things you could do now to prepare for your orientation:

  1. Upload a photo of your choice now for your U Card instead of having your photo taken during Orientation.
  2. Watch this video or read here to learn how to set your preferred name with the University.
  3. Check out the Registration Tools available on the One Stop website. The How To Guides will help make class registration during Orientation an easier (and less stressful) process.
  4. Review the Freshman Seminars available to first-year students. These courses are taught by faculty members and are limited to 20 students.
  5. If you plan to bring a smartphone or tablet to Orientation, download the U Minnesota mobile app. When you arrive for Orientation you will then download the Class of 2020 Guide (more details soon!). Get up-to-date information during Orientation; in August you will use these same app during Welcome Week.

You will get an email from OFYP a few days prior to your scheduled orientation day with driving directions and details on what to pack for the two-day, overnight program.

If you have any questions just let us know! See you soon.
