ACADEMIC RESOURCES

Check the U Libraries for your Course Readings

We know textbooks can be expensive. In partnership with the University Bookstores, the University Libraries have created a list of textbooks held in the ebook collections. You can use these as your primary text, in case you want to leave your book at home, or get an extra hour to do some reading. Want to learn how to save more money through Library resources? Click here to save!

Managing Your Time and Assignments

If time management is one of your goals for the semester, check out the Assignment Calculator on the University of Minnesota Libraries website. If you enter assignment information (e.g., research paper, speech, lab report, video, poster, etc.), the calculator will give you a timeline and necessary steps. You can also sign up for email reminders. This is a great way to plan your time this semester.

Study Spaces at Northrop

Looking for a place to grab a coffee and study on campus? Northrop also has plenty of quiet study spaces and Surdyk's Café to get some coffee so you are ready to start your semester out right!

Women’s Center Study/Lounge Grand Opening

Check out the Women’s Center Study/Lounge Grand Opening in 65 Appleby Hall from 12-1 p.m. on September 15! Learn about resources and scholarships, as well as involvement opportunities with our student volunteer program, the Feminist Ambassador Brigade (FAB), enjoy treats, and enter to win a door prize!

THINGS TO KNOW

Campus Zone Pass

If you ride the light-rail exclusively on campus, the Campus Zone Pass is perfect for you. It allows you to ride between the three campus light-rail stops on the Metro Green Line – West Bank, East Bank and Stadium Village – without paying a fare. Make sure to touch the card to the card reader every time you ride. Click here to learn more about the Zone Pass.

U of M Foundation Student Call Center

The U of M Foundation Student Call Center is offering U of M students an on campus job with flexible schedules calling alumni and friends of the U to raise money for university programs. Click here to learn more and apply!

Traffic and Parking Changes

Expect traffic delays and know parking changes for Viking and Gopher game days. Game day schedules and parking keycard contract relocations are online.

Housing & Residential Life - Groups

The Raptor Center

Established in 1974 as part of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, The Raptor Center;

  • Rehabilitates around 800 sick and injured raptors each year,
  • Helps to identify emerging environmental issues related to raptor health and populations
  • Trains veterinary students and veterinarians from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine and conservation.
  • Provides public education programs and events

Lavender Welcome and Kick Off with the GLBTA Programs Office

Join us on Monday, September 14 to welcome LGBTQIA students, faculty, and staff to the U! Explore community, resources, and food with the GLBTA Programs Office. Interested? Homecoming Concert

Following the annual Homecoming Parade, Indie Pop band Smallpools with rap headliner Big Sean will perform in TCF Bank Stadium. Be sure to get your tickets before the concert on Friday, September 25. Click here for more details and to purchase tickets.

Black Greek 101

Join the University of Minnesota's National Pan-Hellenic Council for an opportunity to learn about the seven historically Black/African American fraternities and sororities here on campus. Parent and Family Weekend

Missing your family? Maybe not yet, but they are probably already missing you! Invite them to attend Parent and Family Weekend October 16-18. Activities include sessions with campus experts, college receptions, and a Pancake Breakfast Tailgate before the Minnesota v. Nebraska football game. Questions? Email parent@umn.edu.

Student Tickets at Northrop

Northrop is a hub for creativity and exploration on campus! U of M students get $10 student rush tickets to all Northrop Dance Season events and other discounts (based on availability) to other events! Plus, there are tons of free and fun events happening, so check our website to keep up to date on all that's happening at Northrop!

Gopher Sports

Did you know that the Gophers won 9 conference championships and 3 NCAA championships last year? As a student, you have the chance to see some of the best college student-athletes in the country right in your own back yard. Luckily for you, all Gopher sporting events besides Football, Men's Basketball, and Men's Hockey are free simply by showing your U-Card.
