You’ve made it through your first mid-terms! Congrats! As you gear up for registration for spring courses and work to finish the semester strong, here are a few announcements to keep in mind.
Spring Semester Registration
Registration is here! To prepare, make sure to check your registration time in MyU (located under the “Academics” tab) and verify that you don’t have any holds on your account. You can also use One Stop for additional registration support.
Take the Gopher Guide Survey
We want to hear what you think about the Gopher Guide. Is there anything that should be changed? Anything that you want us to keep? This survey will take no more than five minutes. If you take it by Tuesday, November 22, you will be entered into a drawing to win some free food from local restaurants! Click here to access the survey.
Come to Fast Forward!
Don’t forget about Fast Forward! The last workshop of the semester is this Friday, November 18, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Coffman, Room 303. We will be focusing on thriving academically and preparing for your second semester here at the U. It’s one you don’t want to miss! Click here for more information about the program.
Join us for Senior Stories
On Friday, November 18 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., The Cube (located in Coffman Union, next to Starbucks) will be hosting a Ted Talk-style event: Three seniors will share their unique stories and advice about college life. As they talk you can enjoy free food catered by Kafé 421. At the end, students can ask questions and share their thoughts. Please come for an evening of inspiring stories!
During Break, Plan Your Study Abroad
Talk to your parents over Thanksgiving break about your interest in studying abroad. If they have questions or concerns, send them the Learning Abroad Center's way — they love parents! Complete your application over winter break and you'll be studying abroad before you know it.
The Center for Academic Planning & Exploration (CAPE) is a cross-college program designed to help students explore majors, discover interests, and make a plan for the future! The center specializes in helping undecided students find or change their major, helping students create parallel plans as they apply to competitive major programs, and facilitating the process of exploring majors or transferring between colleges within the U. Go to the top floor of Bruininks Hall to schedule a one-to-one appointment with a CAPE coach, meet with a peer coach, sign up for fun workshops, join the Major Network, and more!
Check out some upcoming opportunities:
- CAPE Express – 15-minute drop-in appointments November 17 with CAPE coaches, just in time to prep for spring registration.
- Major Network – Sign up to be connected with an upperclassman in the majors that interest you to get the student perspective.
- OUE 2100: Academic Planning and Exploration – Sign up for CAPE's 1-credit online course for spring semester!
Off-Campus Living (Second-year Housing)
Off-Campus Living (OCL) provides opportunities for interaction, integration, and enrichment for off-campus and commuter students. OCL offers resources and programs for students about renting, finding roommates, commuting to campus, and being a good neighbor. Gopher Hall and Commuter Connection are two programs specifically for students living at home and/or commuting from farther away. Are you thinking about living off-campus next year? Come to the Renter's Education Workshop in Centennial Hall November 17 at 7:00 p.m.
