RecWell Open House
RecWell Open House is your chance to see everything Recreation & Wellness has to offer! The largest recreation center in the Big 10 has a bouldering and climbing wall, fun and challenging fitness equipment, and amazing spaces to work out or just hang out. The open house will include food, fun, and glow-in-the-dark Zumba!
Gopher Gear Up
If you haven’t purchased your textbooks, stop by Gopher Gear Up at the Coffman Bookstore! This is your one-stop shop to get everything you need for class and there will be exclusive offers and deals just for first-year students. The University of Minnesota Bookstores are conveniently located on campus. Find all of your course supplies and more at competitive prices.
Student Free Store & Sustainability Stop
The Student Free Store & Sustainability Stop is a great place to shop for clothes and furniture from the Pack & Give Back program on campus. Almost everything will be free and everything will be sustainable! Learn about sustainable transit around campus and find a fun library book to check out.
Welcome to Welcome Week with Jermaine Davis
Get ready to jump in to the week with the rest of the Class of 2021 at the official kickoff to Welcome Week. Learn what Welcome Week is all about and how it's designed to help you get to know the University of Minnesota. Keynote speaker Jermaine Davis will provide tips for forming new relationships and rebounding from mistakes and get you excited to make the most of this week.
Pride & Spirit
At Pride & Spirit you will learn all of the cheers, chants, and traditions that go along with being a Gopher – and they will be part of your Game Day Experience. Also, you will connect with athletes from a variety of Gopher sports and get the unique opportunity to go on the field at TCF Bank Stadium for the Class of 2021 Block M photo!
New Student Convocation
New Student Convocation is the University’s official welcome to the Class of 2021. You’ll hear from University President Eric Kaler, Provost Karen Hanson, a faculty member, and a recent alumnus. This celebration of University spirit, academic excellence, and community will introduce you to the U of M’s history and traditions.
College Day is a chance to discover what it means to be a student in your specific college. You will meet faculty and other students and explore unique resources and opportunities you have access to as a member of your college. You will also see real-world applications of what you will learn during your time at the U of M. If you’re a part of CEHD, CSE, CFANS, or CLA this is the first day of class!
Live Like a Student
The Live Like a Student session on U of M Day will teach you all about managing finances. You will learn tips and tricks about paying tuition, finding financial aid, and managing money. Learn about creative and fun ways to enjoy life on a student budget, all in participatory game show fashion!
Earth, U, & Barbecue
At the Earth, U, & Barbecue enjoy a delicious, waste-free meal. All products and materials at this lunch are biodegradable and will be composted or are recyclable and will be sorted at on-campus facilities. This event will have big taste, but no waste!
Through dynamic displays and illuminating activities at Sustainability Action! you will learn how to participate in sustainability initiatives on campus and in the community.
Academic Survival in Action
Get to know the University Libraries at Academic Survival in Action. At the Magrath Library open house, scope out possible study spaces while you learn about the range of useful and maybe a bit surprising services and tools that the libraries have to help you thrive during your time here.
Ready to put your talents to use and learn more about your peers and engage in meaningful conversations? Kyle "Guante" Tran Myhre, two-time National Poetry Slam champion, activist, and educator, and Wing Young Huie, U of M alum and local photographer, will share how they use their talents to start meaningful conversations with strangers.
