Take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back! You are in the home stretch of completing your first year of college! While summer break is approaching and we are all looking forward to the time off, it is important not to lose focus on the remainder of the semester. Here are some things to keep in mind as you complete these last few weeks of the year. Feel free to reference the 2017-18 Gold Book.
THINGS TO DO
Register for Fall Semester Classes – Gold Book p.72
Registration is just around the corner! Your specific registration time can be found under the registration tab in MyU. Utilize Schedule Builder to map out schedules and maybe even make some back-ups in case classes fill up.
Take 20 minutes to let the U know what you think is working well and what needs improvement. Help the U serve current and future undergraduates by making sure they receive the best educational experience possible. Every student to take the SERU will automatically receive discounts and coupons and will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Take the SERU here.
THINGS TO KNOW
Senior Stories - TODAY!!!
College can be an unpredictable time for many students, but we can look to upperclassmen for advice. This is why Student Unions & Activities and Orientation & Transition Experiences are bringing you Senior Stories on Tuesday, April 24 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the President’s Room of Coffman Memorial Union. Three seniors will be giving TED Talk-style speeches about their experiences and holding a Q&A session with the audience afterwards. Make plans to attend so you do not miss out on any upperclassmen wisdom!

GoldPass/UMN Employment – Gold Book p.39
Looking for work experience over the summer, but aren’t sure where to start? Consider looking into these two great resources, UMN Employment and GoldPass. It is always a good idea to be looking for internships and professional experience to boost your résumé.
SMART Learning Commons – Gold Book p.84-85
Don’t forget the SMART Learning Commons is a great resource available to you. Whether you need some extra help for a class or simply want to get some more practice in for classes, SMART Learning Commons has peer tutors to help. There are locations on each of the three campuses: Walter Library, Room 204 (East Bank), Wilson Library, Room 401 (West Bank), and Magrath Library, Room 75 (St. Paul). You can click here for more information.
UMN Libraries – Gold Book p.85-86
University Libraries are your home for academic survival. Their website will help you find the scholarly articles and sources for your last research paper of the semester. The 12 libraries have places to be productive and study – from quiet areas to coffee shops. The Libraries have more than 50 group-study rooms you can reserve, up to two hours per day, two weeks in advance. Also, Peer Research Consultants can help you save time with your research by teaching you the best ways to focus on finding rather than searching. Look for drop-in hours or appointments with the consultants (a.k.a. library research tutors) or chat with a librarian 24/7. Discover more here.
