We have wrapped up a successful orientation cycle welcoming the students in the Class of 2017 and many new transfer students! Orientation & First-Year Programs would like to express our appreciation to all of you who made these new student programs a success.
This summer, we all worked tremendously hard to transition and welcome over 5500 in the Class of 2017, over 2000 transfer students, and a record of over 5000 parents/guests. Welcome Week - the 6th one - went very well given all the changes with the excitement of adding the football game. We had over 5300 students participate! Our student leadership was also outstanding this summer and many of you nominated, worked with, and supported these students as well. We were excited to implement our first ever Transfer Student Ambassador (TSA) program. Using current transfer students to welcome the new was a great enhancement, one in which we hope to continue. These programs could not take place without your collaboration, support, and cooperation!
If you have not already received your free Class of 2017 Poster (pictured right), stop by OFYP anytime during normal business hours. We still have posters for the Class of 2016, 2015, and 2014, that you are welcome to have.
OFYP and the Office of Undergraduate Education would like to personally thank you for your dedication and commitment in welcoming new students and their families to the University community and for contributing to their successful transition. As students adjust to their first semester, many of you are still actively involved in helping these new students thrive. The success of the Class of 2017 is an ongoing commitment and one that we know you are dedicated to achieving.
Thank you for all that you do to ensure their success.
With warmest thanks,
The Orientation & First-Year Programs staff
