As a new transfer student, you have the opportunity to participate in the University’s Transfer Welcome Days program, September 3-6. This program offers exciting and valuable activities to assist you in your transition to the U of M and to connect you with the community and campus. We recognize many of the Transfer Welcome Days Programs occur before your assigned move-in day. Because of this, we would like to invite you to participate in early move-in so you can attend these programs and have more time to get settled on campus. For the full Transfer Welcome Days Schedule download the “New Transfer Students!” guide on the U Minnesota app. For details on how to download the app, please see here.
There is a $23 fee per day that is associated with the early move-in process. The Orientation & First-Year Programs office will pay these fees contingent upon your attendance at Transfer Welcome Days. You have the option to move in on Thursday, September 3 or Friday, September 4.
If you want to move into your residence hall Thursday, September 3, you may do so for an early move-in fee of $23, but the fee will be waived if you attend the Tailgate and Football Game event Thursday, September 3. If you request early move-in and do not attend the event, you will be charged a total of $46 to your account. If you would like to move in on Thursday, September 3, please complete an early move-in request at here. This must be completed by Monday, August 17.
If you want to move into your residence hall Friday, September 4, you may do so for an early move-in fee of $23, but the fee will be waived if you attend the Transfer Kickoff event Friday, September 4. If you request early move-in and do not attend this event, you will be charged $23. If you would like to move in on Friday, September 4, please complete an early move-in request here. This must be completed by Monday, August 17.
If you move into your residence hall on Thursday or Friday, you must do so between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Please contact Housing and Residential Life if you have questions or concerns about your move-in arrangements.
