Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Transfer Orientation & Transfer Welcome Day?
At Transfer Orientation, you learn about academic expectations, meet with advisers and register for fall classes. At Transfer Welcome Day, you'll mingle with other transfer students, find out how to get involved on campus, and talk to student leaders about transitioning to the U of M.

Am I required to attend Welcome Day?
No, you are not required to attend Welcome Day, but we believe it's a great way to meet people and start getting connected on campus.

How much does Welcome Day cost?
There is no cost for you to attend Transfer Welcome Day. We will provide lunch and give you a free U of M t-shirt!

Can I bring a guest to Welcome Day?
Transfer Welcome Day is an opportunity for you to connect with other new transfer students enrolling this fall. We would prefer that you did not bring a guest so that you're free to mix and mingle with each other.

Do I have to register in advance for Transfer Welcome Day?
Yes, please register online by Wednesday, August 29, even if you're not sure you can attend.
