Orientation & First-Year Programs (OFYP) March 30, 2016

Hello %%First Name%%!

I hope that your Spring Break went well and gave you a chance to relax from the semester! This month, I wanted to briefly mention some tips as the semester begins to wind down.

  • If you are having issues studying and would like some additional help, check out the SMART Learning Commons, a free face-to-face tutoring resource center offering group and individual sessions for a variety of courses!
  • There is also the Center for Writing, which is a resource available for you to help with your writing process of papers.
  • For many majors, deadlines are coming up to apply for specific programs for the upcoming fall semester. If you are unsure when these deadlines are or you are still undecided with you major, do not hesitate to contact the Center for Academic Planning and Exploration to help you develop a plan for a major and the decision-making process.
  • On a lighter note if you do not know yet Spring Jam is coming up! I would highly recommend attending this event towards the end of May. It was definitely a highlight of the last semester for me! There will be multiple days of concerts and other sorts of activities like carnival rides. The lineup will include MisterWives, Jeremiah, R3hab, and more! For more details checkout
  • Also, join me for the Pause & Plan Workshop! On your resume, “Education” only comprises the top third of the page. What experiences are you going to gain as a U of M student to begin filling in the other two thirds? From student group involvement to research opportunities, learn how you can take advantage of all the U of M has to offer beyond the classroom. A workshop just for new transfer students will be held on Friday, April 1st from noon-2 in Folwell Hall, room 104. Lunch will be provided. Register Now!

The rest of the Transfer Insiders and I are still hosting coffee! Reach out to me to find a time to connect and enjoy some FREE Starbucks! This could be the perfect opportunity to get your questions answered and learn more about how to get involved on campus.

Looking Forward,

Eldon Davidson
