Hello %%First Name%%!

I hope your first semester at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities is off to a great start! My name is Sal, and I am going to be your Transfer Student Insider. I will be sending you monthly emails as a part of the Transfer Student Network. The emails will contain some great tips on how to make the University of Minnesota feel like home, and what you can do to maximize the time you have here! Tune in to my monthly emails to see what’s new that month and how to get connected with various campus resources.

Just like you, I am also a transfer student. I’m originally from Stillwater, Minnesota but I decided to go to the University of Minnesota – Duluth for my first year of college I thought my opportunities in the Twin Cities would be better, so for my sophomore year I transferred to the University of Minnesota. This is now my third semester at the U of M, and I love it! Since coming to the U of M, I have declared major as Strategic Communication. I have also gotten involved in a lot of different activities on campus such as Alpha Phi Omega, Transfer Student Ambassador and a Transfer Insider! To gain a better sense of community here at this huge school, I joined a lot of clubs on and off campus. All of these were activities that I have really enjoyed getting involved in and made the U feel just like home.

As a part of the Transfer Student Network program we have, I’m a great resource for you! Feel free to email me any questions, concerns, or thoughts you have during this time of transition. If you’re interested in having a chat about your time here at the U, or if you want to talk about my experience transferring, feel free to contact the Orientations & First-Year Programs office at 612-624-1979 or ofyp@umn.edu to set up a time that myself, or another Transfer Student Insider, can take you out to coffee – our treat! Join us if you’d like to talk at all about your transition, your first semester, or anything at all! I hope the rest of your semester continues to go well, and I am excited to hear back from you, and grab some coffee together!
