Welcome New Transfer Students

Quick Reminders!
Remember to regularly check your U of M e-mail account. Email is the University’s official method of communication, so check it often for important information and announcements. Go to mail.umn.edu.

Orientation
On-Campus Orientation is fast approaching! Do not forget to sign up for your orientation date with your college. If you have not yet received information about securing your orientation date, contact your college of enrollment.

Online Orientation is now available. Completing Online Orientation will help prepare you for the required On-Campus Orientation, as well as allow you to shorten your On-Campus Orientation experience.

You can now access the Class Selection Tutorial, which will teach you more about the course registration system and help you prepare for Orientation.

Finances
Are you a student transferring from Out-Of-State? Have you applied for tuition discounts? If not, click here!

Have you completed your Financial Aid requirements for the 2010-2011 year? If not, please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to apply today.

Looking for scholarships? Search for university-wide or college-specific scholarships here.

Living & Commuting
Looking for information on commuting to campus? Click here.

Need a place to live? Check out the U of M off-campus housing site here.

Driving to campus this fall? If so, enter the Parking Contract Lottery before July 15 to secure an on-campus parking contract. Go to www1.umn.edu/pts/studentcontracts.htm for more information.

Health and Wellness
Students at the U taking 6 or more credits are required to have health insurance. If you don’t have health insurance to provide at orientation, you will automatically enroll in the University-sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan. To learn more, click here.

Students in the School of Nursing or Dentistry:
All Academic Health Center students will be automatically enrolled in the University-sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). This plan provides easy, affordable coverage for the unique needs of AHC students. You can have the plan waived if you are eligible. See details about waiving the plan at: www.shb.umn.edu/twincities/ahc-students.htm.
