Orientation & First-Year Programs (OFYP)

Dear %%First Name%%,

Orientation & First-Year Programs is looking for passionate College of Biological Sciences (CBS) students who are interested in personal growth and new ideas. If you’re looking for an opportunity to develop leadership skills, apply to be a 2018 Orientation Leader!

With this paid internship opportunity, you will:

  • Lead hundreds of students in groups of 12-25 throughout Orientation
  • Train and supervise a group of 10-20 Welcome Week Leaders
  • Develop your own leadership style through positive working relationships, adaptability, and real-world application
  • Develop your understanding of leadership and diversity
  • Work in a dynamic, face-paced, and engaging environment
  • Make $3,800 in addition to room and board during Summer Orientation

“Like many of my peers in the College of Biological Sciences (CBS), I am interested in pursuing a career in the health field. My CBS classes have provided me with the ‘book knowledge’ that I need to be successful in this career. The OL experience provided me with the ‘soft skills’ I will need like working with large and small groups of people, presentation and communication skills, and sense of my own personal leadership style. Furthermore, the lessons I learned on identity have made me a much more culturally competent and well-rounded individual. This knowledge is not something I would have been able to earn through ‘traditional’ CBS experiences.” - 2017 Orientation Leader

Attend our open house to learn more about the position and ask questions: Monday, October 23 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Bruininks 131B

Time Commitments:

  • Winter Retreat: January 12-14, 2018
  • Spring Semester Training Class: Every Wednesday from 3:30-7:30 p.m, January 17-May 2
