Your Day 1 morning schedule for orientation is a little bit different than the domestic student schedule. As an international student, you are required to attend Immigration Check-in as part of your Freshman Orientation.  Please review the schedule below:

7:45-8:20 a.m. Check-in Check-in on the ground floor of Coffman Union
8:20 a.m. Immigration Check-in with ISSS ISSS will check your immigration documents, introduce ISSS services, and review important
immigration requirements.
10:15-10:50 a.m. University Welcome  
From here follow the general orientation schedule given for Day 1 and Day 2.
Your Day 1 of orientation will end at approximately 9:45 p.m.

6:30 a.m. Breakfast Your day will start early with hot breakfast in 17th Ave.
8:30 a.m. Course registration Head back to your college to begin schedule planning and course registration. Each college will begin at various times, make sure you check your schedule in the morning.
Anytime after registration Get your U Card After course registration you will have the opportunity to get your U Card. If you would like to upload a photo for your U Card, please go to z.umn.edu/photoupload. If you plan to open the optional TCF Bank Checking Account, please go to tcfbank.com/openuofmn and you can complete your paperwork prior to Orientation.  
Your second day of Orientation will be complete by 4:00 p.m. at the latest. Please make arrangements to determine how you will reconnect with your parent/family.

8:00-9:30 a.m. Check-In Ground floor of Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank of the Twin Cities campus.
Morning Session sessions are for both students and parents. In an effort to meet the needs of our students these morning sessions are available for you to pick and choose in order to meet your needs. All sessions are announced from inside the Great Hall in Coffman Union. An Orientation Leader will escort you to your session.
8:15-10:00 a.m. Individualized Meetings with a Financial Aid Counselor Meet with a One Stop counselor individually to discuss all personal financial aid questions; including applying for aid, searching for scholarships, enrollment requirements, financial aid awards and disbursement, and direct deposit. Located in Bruininks Hall.
8:00-10:00 a.m. University Department Resource Fair Learn about on-campus jobs, housing, dining, parking and transportation, and more! Plan time to attend this resource fair. Located in the Great Hall.
8:50 or 9:20 a.m. Computer Resources Find out about computer resources available to students. Topics include: computer hardware and software discounts; University e-mail; Google Apps for the University of Minnesota; how to prepare your computer for the residence hall network; computer labs, file sharing/storage, and where to go for technology help. Escorts will depart from the Great Hall.
9:15 a.m. (Departs) East Bank Campus tour Return by 10:10 a.m. - Explore the East Bank of the Minneapolis campus, weather permitting. Tours depart from the Great Hall.
8:30-9:45 a.m. Residence Hall Tour (Not offered August 28)

Middlebrook Hall (West Bank) - Depart at 8:30 a.m. Honors students are encouraged to attend this tour. We will drop Honors students off at their required Honors session at 9:35 a.m. (Not available August 28)

Territorial Hall (East Bank) - Depart at 8:45 a.m. (Not available August 28)

9:10-9:35 a.m. Managing College Costs This session will help you understand a college budget and give you tips on where you can cut costs so you can graduate with as little debt as possible. Find out more about when, where, and how to pay your tuition and fee bill, credit balance checks versus the direct deposit option, the installment payment plan, and UM Pay, the University’s electronic billing and payment service. Escorts will depart from the Great Hall.
9:45-10:00 a.m. Finding a Major that Fits U! If you are undecided about your academic major, this session is for you! Discover tips that will help you explore the 144+ majors at the U, hear how other U of M students found their major, learn about helpful campus resources and develop strategies to get you started. Escorts will depart from the Great Hall.
9:35-10:05 a.m. University Honors Students "Required Information Session* This is a mandatory session for University Honors Program (UHP) students. Learn about the program and meet fellow honors students, and the UHP staff. Arrive to campus by 8:20 a.m. for a tour of Middlebrook Hall, the Honors Residential Community. To learn more, please visit honors.umn.edu. Escorts will depart from the Great Hall.
Orientation Officially Begins
10:15 a.m. University Welcome Meet the Orientation staff and learn a little more about the U and the resources available on the Twin Cities Campus.
11:00 a.m. Transitioning to the College Meet your Orientation Leader and other new students from your college of enrollment and learn how to navigate the orientation experience and your first year at the U.
12:30 p.m. University Resource Session and Lunch Test out classroom technology as Orientation Leaders present multiple University Resources available.
2:00 p.m. College Overview/Meeting Meet with your college representatives and begin planning your course schedule for fall semester.
4:35 p.m. Housing or Commuting Session Whether you are planning to live on-campus or commute to campus this fall, you will learn about the resources available to you.
5:05 p.m. U Card Session Learn about the U Card, Gopher GOLD™, and TCF U Card checking account.
5:30 p.m. Parent/Family Meet-Up Use this time to touch base with your parent/family. During this time get your health insurance information, decide if you plan on having a TCF U Card student checking account, and identify a meeting place on Day 2 after registration.
5:45 p.m. Dinner Enjoy dinner in a residential restaurant and have any questions answered by your Orientation Leader.
7:30 p.m. Pieces of the Puzzle Take a look at some of the issues facing today’s college students through a theatrical presentation performed by the Orientation Leader staff.
Your first day of required Orientation programming will be complete at 9:45 p.m.
