New Student Checklist

To make your transition in to the University go smoothly, there are a number of steps to complete before attending Orientation in July or August and before beginning classes in fall . Please review the requirements on the left to make sure you get off on the right foot.

If you are a transfer student beginning fall 2008, here are some things you need to take care of:

Pay your confirmation fee
Initiate your U of M Internet account
Check your U of M e-mail regularly
Apply for financial aid, if needed
Find housing, if needed
Complete placement testing before Orientation
Register for Orientation
Know your seven-digit student ID number. You will need to provide it during the orientation process
Learn about immunization and healthcare requirements
Inform your parents of Parent Orientation
Complete the Class Search Tutorial at One Stop
Read U of M information sent to you in the mail
